SABAR CLINIC PROJECT

This is a group project created by me and two of my other classmates. The purpose of this project was to create a empathetic, safe, and community-based health clinic for refugees coming from around the world.

‘A cactus amid chaos’ is very descriptive of this health center. When refugees first experience any calamity, it usually involves natural disasters or war. At this point, refugees need a strong sense of hope and belief. This health center could be the perfect space for that and is meant to resemble the functions of a Sabar cactus, a very resilient cactus, and its name is patience in Arabic. The Sabar cactus is highly symbolic of refugees who need that strength, adaptability, growth, and patience through these harsh times.

CONCEPT

This circular wooden structure is meant to symbolize the sabar cactus stemming or growing from the water source which is reflected on the ceiling and floor. Every hub area in this health center is what helps this space flourish through these social connections.
